She has a variety of clinical interests; however, she specializes in mood disorders, anxiety disorders and schizophrenia. Margaret believes that people should be provided with the opportunity to reach their full potential. As a mental health professional, she possesses the skills to nurture and provide holistic care to patients suffering from mental health disabilities. In addition, her profession grants her the opportunity to provide clients with a chance to grow and live a more fulfilling life.
Margaret's interest in mental and behavioral health care developed while living in Sierra Leon during her formative years. She saw how Sierra Leon suffered from a lack of mental health professionals; with a population of over seven million people, the country only had two psychiatrists, two clinical psychologists and 19 mental health nurses. She witnessed individuals with mental disorders be discriminated against, stigmatized and marginalized. Many individuals were also subjected to emotional and physical abuse in institutions and in their own communities. Margaret decided to pursue a career in mental health to fully understand mental disabilities and bring about change.
Margaret enjoys cooking, reading and traveling.
