Angela Sorensen, LCSW
Angela Sorensen, LCSW is a licensed clinical social worker offering services to child, adolescent and adult residents in New York. She has a vast array of clinical interests; however, her specializations are child and adolescent therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, trauma and abuse. In her practice, her approach is a positive psychology approach. She believes in focusing on patient's strengths, capabilities and problem-solving abilities. Angela also believes that the therapeutic rapport between her and her patients is crucial and foundational to the work they will do together. She understands that at times we can get stuck in the hardships of life and need help in the journey of healing. Additionally, she takes a patient-centered approach where patient's pick their goals and what they would like to work on, and together they work on them.
Angela’s interest in mental and behavioral healthcare started at an early age. As a child, she was always the "mediator" in difficult situations between friends and family. She enjoyed helping others see differing perspectives, find peace and value their relationships. And in adulthood, one of her undergraduate professors who saw her strengths encouraged her to pursue a career in behavioral health.
Angela is an adoptive parent. She adopted her daughter when she was 15 years old from the foster care system. Angela loves to travel to tropical places, loves Jamaica, loves the outdoors, biking and kayaking.
