Jennifer Switzer, LPC, is a licensed professional counselor offering services to children, adolescents and adults in Virginia. She has a vast array of clinical interests; however, her specializations are cognitive behavioral therapy, behavioral disorders, stress management and communication. Her approach to treatment is that counseling is a journey of self-exploration, meant to increase one’s level of self-awareness, self-understanding, and ultimately, self-acceptance. She views individuals as the expert on their own lives, and believes that through their life experiences they possess the answers to most of their questions. She intends to help her clients to identify, develop and mobilize their own resources to successfully solve problems and meet challenges.

Her desire to understand development and behavior, along with how childhood experiences shape both one’s view of themselves and the world, led her to major in psychology as an undergraduate student, complete a clinical master’s degree in Professional Counseling and complete her Ph.D. in Psychology. She was inspired by seeing others change the trajectory of their lives when they learned the necessary skills, or received the proper support. She finds fulfillment in supporting others in their commitment to becoming emotionally healthy, and to witness their incredible transformation over time.

Jennifer was a three-time All-American in Women’s Soccer. She is a Disaster Mental Health Volunteer for the American Red Cross. In her spare time, she plays the guitar and the ukulele.

Lisa Clement-DeFalco, RN, BSN, MA, MSN, PMHNP-BC, is a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner offering services to residents in Virginia. She has a vast array of clinical interests; however, her specializations are psychotic disorders, bipolar disorder and depression. In her practice, Lisa believes that everyone deserves to have a partner in their care. Individuals should expect to be heard and met with respect and truthful options to receive the most robust relief of symptoms as possible. She believes that the minimum use of medication should used to meet needs. Additionally, she feels that individuals are equally responsible for their outcomes and that adherence to treatment, managing risk factors and reporting aberrant responses are within their realm of control.

Lisa’s interest in mental health care started during her role as a special needs preschool teacher and she developed a passion for family based intervention. She went on to earn a master’s degree in counseling and practiced for more than a decade. Then, during the Massachusetts medical reform, she decided to go into nursing to ensure she could continue to intervene with her clients and meet their medical needs.

Lisa has been a dedicated Boy Scout leader for seven years and she is facilitating the process in her region to grow from Boy Scouts to Family Scouts! She also has a 2nd degree black belt in taekwondo and is the Virginia state champion in sparring.
